Step into the world of The Old Testament, where the divine intertwines with the historical and the mundane. The Bible isn’t just a religious text - it's a time machine that transports us to the day-to-day lives of ordinary people who married, had kids, toiled the land, experienced seasons of bounty and hunger, and withstood years of bloody warfare. Just like us, these biblical heroes loved, loathed, coveted, and felt the gut-wrenching pangs of heartbreak.
While the theological tenets of the Bible hold timeless relevance, the realities of the lives it depicts have remained frozen in time. The societal norms and laws that governed their actions have largely vanished, making them almost alien in our modern world. Many practices once commonplace are now forbidden by law.
"The Biblical Times Podcast" is your portal into the past. We aim to guide listeners on a journey back thousands of years, right into the era of biblical heroes. Our mission is to contextualize their actions against the backdrop of their realities, societal norms, and legal structures.
What's more, we offer our listeners a rare insight. The Old Testament, originally penned in Hebrew, has been translated into English and many other languages. Hidden within it are hundreds of wordplays designed to enrich the stories and provide pivotal pieces of information. Some wordplays are so clever they create stories within stories. Unfortunately, these linguistic gems lose their sparkle in translation - that's where our podcast comes in.
"The Biblical Times Podcast” doesn't delve into questions of faith or religion, making it a welcoming space for anyone intrigued by the social and historical aspects of the Bible. Our pilot consists of seven episodes. If successful, we'll be adding dozens more to our roster.
